What Betman does
Betman blocks connection attempts from unapproved apps on your device. It shows the app, visible service address, publicly registered company and blocking status in a movable, translucent window. Tap for details or fold the window to keep it small.
This version records blocked connection attempts. Traffic from allowed apps is not observed. A blocked attempt is not evidence of a personal data leak. Camera unavailability alone cannot identify recording, the app using the camera or a remote viewer. Betman does not provide a full malware scan.
Privacy policy
Effective: October 3, 2026. Operator: Atelier Matiere Co., Ltd.
There are no accounts, advertisements, analytics SDKs or developer collection servers. Starting with version 0.3.0, optional company lookup sends a destination IP address over HTTPS to the responsible public registry (APNIC, ARIN, RIPE, LACNIC or AFRINIC). The registry also sees your connection's public source IP. App names, DNS website names and message bodies are not sent. Registries may retain access logs under their own policies. Lookup is off by default and can be disabled at any time. Versions 0.1.x and 0.2.x do not offer this lookup.
Installed app names, packages and permission states are inspected locally for app selection and permission review. The local VPN discards packets from blocked apps on the device. It stores destination IP, port, protocol, time, count, byte count and the app name when available in local records. Starting with version 0.3.0, it also reads website names from ordinary unencrypted DNS questions and records those names locally. Names, contacts, message bodies and encrypted content are not read or stored. There is no remote VPN server. An IP's registered company is not necessarily the service operator or recipient of personal information.
Camera observation records availability changes only. It does not collect photos, videos or audio. Optional usage access displays app transitions from the last 15 minutes without separately storing them. The floating window does not read your screen or input.
Up to 1,500 event records are stored on the device. Company lookup caches up to 256 results locally; successful results are reused for up to seven days. New lookups are limited to 12 per minute. Deleting records also clears the lookup cache. Only the last seven days are displayed and exported, and older events are removed when new events are added. Delete records in the app, clear app data or uninstall to remove local records. Records are excluded from automatic backup and device transfer.
JSON exports are saved only to the location you choose. If you select cloud storage or share an export, that provider's policies apply. The developer does not receive your records.
VPN blocking, the floating window, camera observation and company lookup can be stopped separately. You can allow an entire app for the current VPN session and revoke that permission. Allowed apps bypass the VPN; their subsequent traffic is not observed. Android settings let you revoke permissions.

Sources and evidence
Betman uses IANA's IP registry directory to find the responsible registry. The detail view shows the company, registry source and lookup time. Service names inferred from visible website addresses are distinguished from registered company names.
Using the app
Blocking also stops normal internet functions for affected apps and replaces any existing VPN. Protection ends when you stop or force-stop the app or reboot. Other profiles, some system traffic, information already sent and an operating system compromise are not covered. Korean and English are available; devices using other languages default to English. The language can be changed inside the app.
